Unity Community Mediation Briefed by DOJ on Settlement Agreement
UCMT Continues Implementation of MOU
This morning UCMT top leaders from their diverse communities reconfirmed with
DOJ that they will continue to press for full implementation of their MOU now that
state and federal agreements are in place that are based on UCMT’s MOU from
2022 and their MOA from 2003.
“We honor our founders, Ron Edwards and Clyde Bellecourt, as we rededicate our
efforts to transform public safety in Minneapolis with a focus on ending the historic
wrongs of the City in their abuse of our African American and Native American
communities,” said Al Flowers, Communications Director of the UCMT. “Our next
task is to provide the resources for our community based sites as agreed to in our
MOU with the City. We will press on until we achieve full compliance with all
provisions in the MOU.”
